Earlier tonight, the President laid out his vision for dealing with the threat from the terrorist group ISIS. It is my belief that matters of national security are some of the most serious decisions a Member of Congress ever has to make. Over the next twenty four hours, I will receive briefings from Administration officials and Congressional leadership on the plan. As I review the strategy, I will want to know the details of the mission and its funding, the level of commitment of coalition members, how we will measure success, and how we will protect Americans abroad and at home. We must avoid being dragged into another quagmire in the Middle East. The threat of ISIS must be addressed but the United States cannot involve itself in yet another protracted war with no end in sight.
