Early Saturday morning workout after I taught a class. This exercise not only strengthens the core, quads, shoulders and many secondary muscle groups, it also serves as a stretch and elongation tool. Start in downward dog, lift one leg to air for three-legged down dog. As the leg floats down, come to a plank position and hover extended leg above the ground before the knee reaches to nose and the spine curves in. This position is a deep core hold, all while supporting yourself with the frontal muscles of the body -primarily the shoulders and quadriceps.
