Early Voting will begin Thursday at the Rogers County Election - TopicsExpress

Early Voting will begin Thursday at the Rogers County Election Board located 415 W. 1st Street in Claremore. Voting will begin at 8 a.m. and run until 6 p.m. Thursday. Friday hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All other precincts will be closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They will open for the general election on Nov. 4. Staff will accept absentee ballot applications until Wednesday and voters should also remember to provide a voter identification card, state or federal identification, or tribal identification in order to vote. “There is no more early voting on Monday,” said Election Board Secretary Julie Dermody. “We had several people come in during the last election.” The election board is offering assistance to physically disabled voters during the early voting as well as on election day, Nov. 4. Physically disabled voters who cannot enter the polling place, or those who need help marking their ballots inside the polling place, blind or visually disabled voters and illiterate voters may be assisted by a person the voter chooses. In all cases, a person providing such assistance may not be the voter’s employer or an agent of the employer or an officer or agent of the voter’s union, according to Dermody. A person providing assistance also must swear or affirm that the voter’s ballots will be marked in accordance with the voter’s wishes. Alternatively, all blind, visually impaired, and physically disabled voters in Rogers County may use the audio-tactile interface (ATI), a feature offered on all Oklahoma voting devices, to vote privately and independently, either at Rogers County Election Board during early voting or at their assigned polling place on election day. “We want to make it easy access for all people, including handicapped,” Dermody said. Dermody is also reminding voters that changes to their registration can occur if they fail to participate in two consecutive general elections. “If you do not vote in two consecutive general elections, you are in danger of being removed from the voting rolls,” Dermody said. To verify voter registration status, contact the Rogers County Election Board at (918) 341-2965.
