Early this morning the lady with the amazing DNA Scent Sniffing Dogs informed me that she was discontinuing her search efforts for our Son. She feels sure Cody is still in the area, but is unwilling to carry on. For three days she has been considering her options. Ultimately, I think the environmental conditions that are so foreign to both her and her dogs left her no choice. So this is where we are at… Her dogs alerted on an area high above our cabin, and on a route heading in a direction that could, if he persisted, lead him to Ice House Road or beyond. Since these areas need to be worked in much greater detail, there is no guarantee either is going to yield Cody or clues. Because much of the forest in these areas is still hot and unstable, the USFS has heavy restrictions in place, thus limiting our access to a very small set of timely options. Once the restrictions are lifted AND if the rain hasn’t caused mudslides (which would destroy any remaining clues) we hope to get some Anthropologists and/or Archeologists out to comb the hot spot and surrounding area above our cabin. As for the other areas…well there are a few hundred rugged acres to be vetted and no additional information to digest. So I’m still working on that one. In the meantime, we will continue to hit up the hunters and spread the word in person and through various medias, and follow up on any leads or constructive suggestions or assistance (for example a P.I. may be entering the mix). Since we won’t give up on our kids, the war room will stay active while the Think Tank continues to run 24/7. Vern Matthews Codys Father
