**East Peak Fire Update** Containment grows on East Peak Wildfire Due to more accurate mapping, the East Peak Fire was reduced in size to 13,472 acres and is now 55 percent contained. There are 17 handcrews constructing containment lines, seven helicopters to assist with troop shuttles, supplies and water, 51 engines to provide structure protection along the eastern perimeter, 15 water tenders to provide dust abatement and support to engines. In total, there are 753 people working on the fire. The area of most concern is on the southwest corner of the perimeter where the fire continues to burn in steep country. Tonight, firefighters plan to monitor and mop up the edges of the fire while continuing to check for hot spots around structures. In the safest way possible, firefighters will also continue to monitor and put out portions of the fire that are occasionally torching small strings of timber at the top of the mountain. Due to the exceptionally dry fuel conditions fire restrictions are in place are across Colorado. Residents and visitors should check locally for restrictions.
