Eastern Kingbird ~ Initially I saw a small group of Eastern Kingbirds flying around in the main field at my local park. They were all constantly moving so I ignored them for a while. After a bit I noticed they were hanging out in the middle of one small area so I wandered in there and stood in front of a medium sized bush and waited. I waited and waited and after about 15 minutes of standing around with nothing coming too close to me, I noticed one of them had perched low on the ground and had been preening for a while. Between me and the bird was nothing but open field so I started very slowly stalking towards it. With each step closer the more surprised I got that It had not flown away. Eventually I was about 20 feet away and snapping away. The bird finally took off but it was such a thrill to be able to get so close.
