Ebola: Ekiti plans stakeholders’ summit THE Ekiti State government has announced plans to convene a stakeholders’ parley to douse the tension created by the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) ahead of the resumption of 2014/2015 academic session on September 22. According to the Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu, who dropped the hint following the announcement of the resumption date by the Federal Government, the parley is to reduce panic among teachers and parents on the deadly EVD. The ministries of Health, Education, Science and Technology, representatives of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), parents and teachers and other relevant stakeholders are expected to attend the meeting where further measures are to be adopted to forestall the spread of EVD into the state. Mrs Adelabu, who doubles as the chairman of the board, spoke in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, during an assessment tour projects being undertaking by SUBEB. The inspection is to ascertain that the projects have been implemented to specification and are ready for inauguration by Governor Kayode Fayemi as part of activities marking the fourth anniversary of his administration. She said the parley would afford stakeholders the opportunity to fine tune strategies of creating more awareness and educate the public on EVD, reduce panic and prevent the disease from finding its way into the state. The SUBEB Director in charge of Planning, Research & Statistics, Mr Ajiboye Sunday, who took the SUBEB chair round the projects, said all the projects inspected had been completed and will be ready for inauguration.
