Ebonyi State, Politics of Quadratic Equation. Was there truly a Charter of Equity that would have ensured that Governorship slots rotated among the 3 Senatorial Zones of the state. Going by that it would have been safe to conclude that it is the turn of Ebonyi South come 2015. Was the charter a product of concensus ad idem of all political parties in the state or a handful of individuals parading as stake holders? The charter of equity if it exists, does it not infringe on individual rights and aspirations? Now Ebonyi state APC has just concluded its primaries. Everybody is aware of who holds the Ace. Can anybody or Law prevent say, Senator Ucha from being APC Gubernatorial Candidate come 2015? If he does, and the PDP fields a Southern candidate, relying on the charter of equity. the PDP will lose to APC. Reason? The combined strength of North and Central Senatorial zones having the control of 8 Local Govts against 5 from South. Politics is a game of no. not emotions. No professional politician will tradeoff his ambition for a nonbinding treaty. The only way power can shift down south is when all the major parties pick their Guber Candidates from Ebonyi South as did PDP & ANPP during 1999 presidential elections when their candidates came from South West (Obasanjo and Olu Falaye). My submission is that only miracle will produce an Ebonyi South Governor especially on the atmosphere of mistrust and superiority tussle among southern elites. I so hold.
