Economically, Islamic Law is contrary to the exploitative and destructive system we have now. Islam doesnt allow the wealthy to buy up an entire market and price-gouge the people. Now does it allow cut-throat competition in the market, nor the under-paying of workers who sweat for a living, nor the usurious gain of the rich at the expense of the poor. Neo-liberal capitalism is basically the anarchy of wealthy cut-throats in the global market. They own our governments and rig every aspect of our society. People are being converted to unintelligent worker-drones, while spirituality and human cultural growth are plowed under and buried. And, the extraction and production systems owned by the godless elite are destroying the planet at an accelerating rate. Islam obligates the Believers to confront wrong-doing, particularly such institutional evil that would harm or possibly destroy millions or billions of people. Worship, Dhikr, and Seeking Knowledge are the tools that anchor us as we fight the real battles against the forces of evil in the environment. We can no longer pretend or accept that Islam is non-political. Allah has sent a Book and a Messenger for a complete, proper, and wholesome human existence. But our current mentality is to avoid establishing 90% of what Islam contains: Divinely-guided systems of human life.
