Eddy County Man Arrested on Multiple Charges Following Standoff with Deputies By Richard Morris KBIM Radio News (1/8/15) Eddy County Sheriff’s deputies report the arrest of a man who allegedly stole a vehicle and placed law enforcement in a situation where they had to utilize a tactical response team. Sheriff Scott London reports that deputies were dispatched to 3101 Tidwell Road in reference to a possible stolen vehicle. They were able to determine that Mario “Marty” Munoz Jr had gained access to the it. . A county press release says the vehicle belonged to a Carlsbad business and that it was taken from the business yard in Carlsbad. London says Munoz refused to exit a residence where he was located and that is when the team was activated. Munoz was apprehended after a brief standoff with no reported injuries. He was charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, residential burglary, vehicular burglary, larceny, resisting , evading ,or obstructing an officer, concealing identity , and criminal damage to property. He is currently being held at the Eddy County Detention Center. The Eddy County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division is still investigating the incident.
