Edin to London? Chelsea want Cavani this summer! Jose Mourinho expects Chelsea transfers for Luke Shaw and Edinson Cavani BEFORE the World Cup. PLUS: The Blues will raise funds for Uruguay forward Cavani by selling Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba. Jose Mourinho intends to complete the signings of Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw BEFORE the start of the World Cup. The Chelsea manager insists he wants just two major acquisitions this summer and the club are already believed to be working on deals for Paris Saint-Germain’s Uruguay striker Cavani and Southampton starlet Shaw. Mourinho is not planning to go to Brazil for the World Cup finals – instead going on a charity mission with the World Food Program this summer. Sunday Mirror Sport revealed last month that Cavani is the major signing Mourinho has targeted to propel his squad back into the top bracket of European football. Cavani is unsettled playing in a wide role at P$G, and it is believed his representatives have sounded out potential buyers, with Chelsea at the front of the queue. A deal for Cavani would probably need to break the £50million British transfer record fee Chelsea paid Liverpool for Fernando Torres three years ago. But Chelsea will partially fund the deal by off-loading Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba in the summer . Cavani, who turned 27 this week, will partner Luis Suarez in attack for Uruguay in Brazil, including a Group D clash with England in Sao Paolo, but Mourinho intends for him to be a Chelsea player by then. The club have been scouting Cavani closely and Mourinho is huge admirer of the player’s workrate as well as his goal threat. Despite Chelsea currently leading the Premier League, Mourinho insists they will only be operating on a par with Manchester City once they have signed a world-class striker in the summer – and Cavani is the man he expects to land. - [via Mirror]
