What are you? Fire, Rescue, Paramedic, First Responder, Nurse? How much do you make? I replied hysterically: HOW MUCH DO I MAKE?! I said: I make holding your hand seem like the most important thing in the world when youre bleeding out and scared, fearing for your life... I make your child breathe when they stop... I can help make sure your father survives a heart attack... I make myself get up at 4 am to make sure your mother has the medicine she needs to live... and I will work straight through until 4am the next day to keep her alive and start the day all over again! I work all day to save the lives of perfectly complete strangers... I will be the one to drop everything and run for a code blue and be there for hours just trying to keep you alive!!! I make my family wait for dinner until I know your family member is taken care of... I make myself skip lunch so that I can make sure that everything I do for your wife today goes smoothly when she goes into labor with your child... I work weekends and holidays and all through the night because people dont just get sick Monday though Friday and during normal working hours. Today, I might have just saved your life. And yet you stand here and ask me How much do I make? I make a difference, and to me, thats more than anyone could ever pay me. Thats what I make. And thats why I love my job.
