Editorial note: The new agenda is a good example of how the CSBA (California School Boards Association) makes something simple so complicated. If you think this is bad wait until Common Corp Math comes to town and a problem you and I can solve in 1 second will now take students at least a minute to solve. Why is it easier to remember that 10+5=15 than 9+6=15. Both are memory or simple addition but the steps that the teacher adds slows the student down. I worked most of my life in the Hi-Tec area of the Silicon Valley. If the engineers of today took all this extra time to solve such a simple problem we would still be using chalk boards instead of super computers.
