Edo 2016: I’m the best PDP gov aspirant —Iduoriyekemwen on December 11, 2014 at 12:27 am in News BENIN—FORMER Edo State Commissioner on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Mr Mattew Iduoriyekemwen, has said that he will only step down in his 2016 governorship ambition when he sees a better candidate in the party. “As at today, I have not seen a better person in the PDP that will take over from Adams Oshiomhole. I remain the best candidate so far to face All Progressives Congress, APC,” he said, when the leadership of Edo Grassroot Movement for Good Governance, led by Ebose Hanson, paid him a visit to support his governorship race in the state. The group said it decided to support Iduoriyekemwen’s governorship ambition due to his excellent performance when he was the state representative in the NDDC. Iduoriyekemwen, in his response, said: “I will run for the governorship of Edo State. We hope that when we run, the leadership of PDP in the state will provide a level playing field for all the aspirants and allow the process to be free and fair for the emergence of a credible candidate because I have always said that if I see a better candidate with a better vision to develop this state, I will step down for that person. As at today, however, I have not seen anybody better than me. “Those who are coming out want to be governor to either continue to do business, to patronise their friends or just to answer your Excellency. What is happening right now across the country is a wind of change. Many people who believe in the old order are suffering today because things have changed. There is no doubt that the people of Edo State need good representation at all levels so as to take care of our future. “It is important for the youths to demand for good representation and if you take money today, in the next four years you are going to suffer bad representation. Even when yon complain, God will not hear you because you have already spent the money ahead of the time.”
