EducationWorks is a not-for-profit organization that provides comprehensive support for economically disadvantaged communities in Philadelphia, Chester, PA; and Camden and Trenton, NJ. We provide educational programs and services that enrich the lives of children, youth and families confronting high rates of poverty and other barriers to educational achievement. By tackling core issues like literacy, graduation rates, safety and social awareness we are equipping individuals with the tools they need to stay safe, finish school, make better choices and become more productive members of their communities. Job description The High School Site Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and implementation of an after school and summer enrichment program for high school students. This staff person reports to the High School Director. Responsibilities Program: Be present and involved in programming during program hours. Plan an age-appropriate afterschool and summer program that meets the needs of the enrolled youth and their families, and complies with the funders guidelines. Oversee implementation of the project-based learning programs and all other aspects of the afterschool program. Ensure that the academic elements of the program are fulfilled, encouraging and mentoring students towards graduation. Incorporate career and post-secondary exploration and planning into the program. Implement the incentive plan for the students. Work closely with supervisory staff and other EW high school programs to plan for sub-contractors, special events, and trips. Develop and implement a plan to keep families informed and involve families in the program. Create a program schedule for all groups. Participate in a planning process for EW summer programs. Administrative: Publicize the program to students and their parents/guardians and facilitate the enrollment process and keep program fully enrolled. Coordinate the completion of all enrollment documents in a thorough and timely fashion. Coordinate the timely delivery of accurate student sign-in sheets to the Administrative Coordinator. Monitor slot utilization and compliance data in PCAPS, responding as needed. Ensure that student and staff records are complete and appropriately stored, and available for inspection by monitors. Work with school staff on the use of space, ensure that space is welcoming and appropriate for the program. Keep principal and school staff well-informed about the program, building strong relationships in the school. Coordinate with the other programs in the school (e.g., extended day or summer school) to maximize opportunities for youth. Develop community partnerships that connect to various projects and benefit the youth in the program. Ensure that the program complies with the EW Policies and Procedures and the Core Standards for Philadelphia Youth Programs. Attend required trainings and meetings. Contribute to required reports. Coordinate food service. Staffing Supervision: Supervise Group Leaders and other staff working in the program. Set schedule for the program staff. ·Ensure completion and accuracy of timesheets. Participate in the collection of all needed documents for members. Complete performance evaluations twice annually for AmeriCorps members. Qualifications Bachelors degree in education or related field. Demonstrated supervisory experience. Familiarity with urban schools and afterschool and summer programs. Experience in and desire to work with high school students. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work until at least 6 pm daily and on holidays when the program is open. Bilingual ability in Spanish is preferred.
