Educator Note, What If? Often times I hear, schools are deplorable! Ohhh, I wouldnt want my child to attend that school! Everyone is entitled to their own personal opinions, but a phrase, sentence, or statement without the intention to impact the problem in a positive manner is just a presentation of formulated words. What if parents/teachers joined the same team and shared the same common goal of ensuring the success of all learners? What if, at open house, parents were able to give insight as to their students strengths/ weaknesses (other than your name, number, and e-mail), so that lessons can be designed around individual needs early on? Yes, it is the teachers job to facilitate quality instruction, and learn the childs current ability level, but understand that their roster is comprised of (100-120), who are on different achievement levels in all areas of the core subject (the struggle is real). There is a wonderful program called Mobymax, that begins at the kindergarten level and ends at eighth grade. Most of students progression concerns begin at a level in their formative years. This program will allow them to start at their current grade level and automatically adjust according to ability. Feel free to team up with family members/friends to purchase, and everyone registered can utilize the same account (free trial period). There are also STAAR Released Tests that you may download at (tea.state.tx.us/student.assessment/staar/) in which you can help students with comprehension/mathematical concepts. There is no need for students to be anxious and feel incompetent when the assessment arrives, for it is surely coming, at the same time, every year. Remember at the beginning of each school term in most schools, the teacher is new, but the parent/guardian remains the primary advocate forever. Lets stop playing the blame game and take ownership in assisting our children/students in their educational endeavors. When this happens, theyll become life-long learners willing to tackle skills necessary to enter an employment field of choice!! #Educationstarts@home #Activeparent #Concernededucator
