Edward Snowden becomes the essential American hero when he blows the whistle on our opaque security operations because there was no effective oversight...although there was meant to be some effective control over their actions. This is typical of our society...we over-react and make choices that ultimately are poor choices and subsequently we look back at bad behavior. For someone to step up and say Look here takes a lot of courage. This only happened because there was no alternative provided to give the public (the electorate) the information that they are entitled to have. Or the bigger issue is that there are people within the government security agencies that do not think that the public has a right to know. What a dilemma! My relatively small experience as a dentist is that the patients do better when they have all the information about their status and health, rather than a limited view. What do you think?
