Edwin van der Heide presents Spectral Diffractions at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion miesbcn/calendar_event/spectral-diffractions-by-edwin-van-der-heide Barcelona, June 10, 2014.-The Mies van der Rohe Foundation, the Music Technology Group at the University Pompeu Fabra, Sónar Festival and EINA Foundation have joined forces to enable Spectral diffractions; an exhibition of Dutch artist Edwin van der Heide , a study on the fragmentation of sound, which is part of the privileged context of Sonar +D and which has had the collaboration of Antonio Sa Pinto, through the Master in Sound Technologies MTG. The point of departure for Spectral Diffractions is the question of what happens if we take a sound apart in its elementary vibrations and distribute these individual tones in space. How do we perceive this? What is the music of the sound rainbow? The result is what you will find at the installation of artist Edwin van der Heide, at the Mies van der Rohe pavillion, from June 10th until June 14th. The venue on its own participates of the installation - for its own volumetric forms and inside and outside space characteristics –, aswell as visitors , whom through their position and movement around the pavilion will be able to alter effects and sound discoveries of the exhibition.
