Egypt military says it is staying out of politics. Oh, the did - TopicsExpress

Egypt military says it is staying out of politics. Oh, the did depose the duly elected President, and impose rule by the Adly Mansour, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Constitutional Court. Now, that fellow seems to have caused much of the political problems Egypt was having. The Court declared the legislative elections invalid, leaving the nation with no legislature. It also prevented new elections, saying that the method of elections was invalid. Mansour seems to have never been elected to anything, as near as I can find. There is no basis in the Egyptian Constitution for Mansour to become President, so the army suspended the Constitution. So what is the basis of any actions he may take? The military is shutting down opposition media, arresting journalists and broadcasters, and generally seem to be imposing a dictatorship. But they are staying out of politics. We know that, because they said so.
