Egypt’s government has declared a month-long state of emergency - TopicsExpress

Egypt’s government has declared a month-long state of emergency as violence rages across the country following a crackdown on pro-Morsi supporters. The flared-up came after security forces cleared pro-Morsi sit-ins in the capital, Cairo. The Muslim Brotherhood said at least 2,200 people have been killed but later revised it down to 300. The government, however, has put the death toll at 60. The rise in violence followed the failure in mediation efforts to bridge the gap between Muslim Brotherhood and the military-backed interim government. What does await Egypt after the new wave of violence? Who is responsible for the violence? Who will benefit from chaos in Egypt?
