Eight GECFMO Officials Accused Of Misapplying Over US$250,000 Eight officials of the Geetroh Community Forest Management Organization, (GECFMO) have been accused for allegedly misapplying US$154,228.32 from the Gectroh Administrative District Development Fund. The accusation was made recently in the Borough of New Kru Town, Bushrod Island, by the concerned youth and citizens of the district residing in Montserrado County and parts adjacent during a press conference. The spokesman of the group, Mr. Solomon Ardiquee, said the fund in question was given to the officials by the Universal Forestry Cooperation (UFC) and Eco-Timbers Company as Social Development Fund. Mr. Ardiquee said because of the mismanagement of the fund by the eight officials of GECFMO, the district is backward in the overall development which is promoting hardship amongst the people. The spokesman further explained that because of the alleged corrupt activities of the officials, many of the local projects under construction are at the standstill due to lack of fund. He said numerous appeals made to the officials to submit a comprehensive financial report to the citizens has proved fruitless. Mr. Ardiquee said following the complete failure of the accused to submit their financial report, the case was filed to the office of Sinoe County electoral district #3 Representative Matthew Zarzar, but no response yet. The concerned youth and citizens are therefore calling on the county Legislative Caucus and President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for their timely intervention so that the case will not go out of hand. Those accused for alleged corruption are Rev. Y. W eagba Seebo, Chairman, Stephen Tiaglan, Co-Chairman, Bernard S. Davies, Executive Director, Ignatius W. Fulka, Treasurer; Bestman Ponney, Jr., Financial Secretary, Joseph Seeboe, Program Officer, Brown Nenneh, Resident Manager, and Morris Nenneh Chaplain. When contacted, three of the eight accused officials, Chairman Seeboe, Co-Chairman Tiaglan and Treasurer Fulka have denied that they have mismanaged the fund. They described the allegation as mere false, fabrication, baseless and a circulated attempt to tarnish their repetition as well as creating confusion and disunity among the peaceful citizens. They explained that part of the money was used for a construction of a school building which is currently being used as well as a Town Hall. According to them, part of the money in question was also used to purchase electrical wires to electrify the seat of the district for the generator that was donated to the district by the county authorities, as well as compensation for youth and old age people. Mr. Seeboe, Tiaglan and Fulka have admonished the concerned citizens to refrain from activities that have the potential to derail planned development projects in the district.
