Eight students were reported running from the state training school in Eldora on Thursday. Five reportedly were returned to the school within an hour, while as of Friday just before noon, three remained at large. The students ran while being taken from the gymnasium to their cottage, according to officials. The students ran at about 7:45 p.m. Thursday. The students ran into a wooded area. The Hardin County Sheriffs Office and Eldora police joined in the search for the students. In a press release from DHS Director Charles Palmer, he noted there are procedures in place when these incidents occur, including contacting police, forming search parties and notifying family, court officers and area residents.
