Eighth annual Woodlands Idol semi-finals this Friday night! THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (November 4, 2014) – Thirty singers…four judges…one incredible night. The 8th Annual Woodlands Idol amateur singing competition will be held this Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Crighton Theater in Conroe. The semi-finals will showcase the top 30 contestants who made it through the three previous preliminary rounds. Ashley Byers, director of special events for The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce, organizers of the event, said, This year’s caliber of talent is outstanding. It will be interesting to see who the judges select to advance to the final round next week.” The semi-finals is a ticketed event. Tickets cost $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at thewoodlandsidol or at The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, 9320 Lakeside Blvd #200, The Woodlands. “Our semi-finals is a great event for families to come out and cheer on local talent, Byers added. At the semi-finals, contestants move a step closer to the final round and a chance of winning one of three cash prizes, ranging from $1,500 for first place, $750 for second place and $500 for third place, as well as developing potential new opportunities to showcase their musical talents. All of the contestants will perform before a panel of four judges including Sunny 99.1’s Dana Tyson. However, only nine singers and one People’s Choice Text-to-Vote winner will advance to the final round held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Papa’s Ice House in Spring. Previous Idol winners include: Julia Cole, Aaron DelBosque, RL, Marlies Fitch Ledbetter, Frankie Pizano, Kalli Roan and Jon Sheptock. Now in its eighth year, The Woodlands Idol is hosted by The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce. Funds raised from The Woodlands Idol benefit chamber programs that promote the growth of the businesses and residents of south Montgomery County.
