“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:33-37 ESV) By way of application we need to think about what we say and what assertions we make against someone and examine ourselves in our hearts before we speak something that has eternal consequences on the wrong side, especially when it comes to our brothers and sisters in Christ. 1 John tells us the importance of loving one another. Lets take the words of James 1:19 [(ESV) Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;] to heart and also the words of Paul: Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.(Ephesians 4:26-27 ESV).
