Hopelik kry ons miljoene handtekeninge en dwing die STEEL om vir ons te vertel wat hulle met R211 MILJARD gedoen het! Sx A Fuel Levy on every litre of fuel purchased was introduced to fund road maintenance and new road infrastructure. In the mid 80s the fund was un-ringfenced to make up for shortfalls in the budget. The Fuel Levy has collected R211 Billion since the 2007 tax year (confirmed by the South African Revenue Service tax statistics). The Gauteng highway upgrades and e-toll project was said to have cost R20 billion. Thats only half of the fuel levy collected in one year! So why are e-tolls needed? If the state is already collecting R40 billion a year from the fuel levy, they have more than enough to maintain and improve the countrys roads.
