Elderly Lady Dies Following Collision, Billingham A 77 year old local woman has died following a collision in Billingham this afternoon. The incident involved the lady, who was a pedestrian, and an HGV and it happened at around 3.35pm on the junction of Cowpen Lane and Marsh House Avenue in the town. The elderly lady was taken to James Cook University Hospital via air ambulance but sadly died a short while later. A stretch of Cowpen Lane was closed in both directions until around 9pm while officers investigated the collision. Police know there were numerous motorists in the area at the time and they would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision itself or who saw the white HGV just before or just after the incident. Witnesses or anyone with information should contact the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit as soon as possible on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 133290.
