Elderly man injured in aggravated robbery - Sylvania Police are appealing for information after an elderly man was injured during a robbery in Sylvania yesterday. About 5.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 1 July 2014), a 70-year-old man was walking north along Formosa Street when he was approached by two men. The men, who were riding pushbikes, demanded money from the elderly man. When he refused, one of the men allegedly punched him in the face several times. The man then gave cash to the pair, who was last seen riding south along Formosa Street. The man sustained swelling to his face and ear and drove himself to Sutherland Hospital, where police were contacted. He currently remains in a stable condition in hospital. Officers from Miranda LAC - NSW Police Force attended the car park and established a crime scene. Detectives would now like to speak with two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries. The men are described only as being of Caucasian appearance and aged between 25 and 30 years old. One of the pushbikes is described as being fitted with a small motor.
