[Source: eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=77&t=11] Here is a comprehensive plan to lower our carbon emissions and save the american taxpayers money: I as a supporter of libertarian, small government republican policies still I acknowledge and recognize my personal carbon emissions do in fact infringe on the liberties of other individuals. Thats why I propose a time-graduated flat carbon tax over the span of 25 years. Starting at $1 per metric ton and going up $1 every year for 25 years, maxing out at a $25 per metric ton, a flat carbon tax (NO EXEMPTIONS). Resources for the Future, rff.org.] As I believe the american people are over taxed as it is, I propose the current federal income tax framework remain in place but with a 20 year degraduated income tax rate that drops 1 percentile over twenty years bottoming out the lowest earners in America to a 5% tax rate. Any single person earning $87,850 or below would be paying a 5% income tax rate at the conclusion of twenty years. Any single person earning between $87,851 – $183,250 would be paying an 8% income tax rate. Any single person earning between $183,251 – $398,350 a 13% income tax rate. Any single person earning between $398,351 – $400,000 would be paying a 15% income tax rate and any single person earning $401,001 and above would be paying a 19.6% income tax rate. At the conclusion of twenty years the american income tax revenue would be close to $2.5 trillion down from the $3.2 trillion earned in 2013 in federal tax revenue. This proposal not only saves our only home, the planet EARTH but it also puts money back into the pockets of hardworking Americans. Bye.
