Elected officials should not receive a pension for part-time, - TopicsExpress

Elected officials should not receive a pension for part-time, service. It’s Time – to fix the State. This article highlights yet another example of how we do it right in the VoDG (no pensions or benefits for elected Council members) and yet the challenges in front of our State are structural and huge - and why those invested in and benefactors of, the existing failed system(s) shouldnt be charged with revising or eliminating them. Grant Wehrli is right. Ron Sandack is right. And there are other examples of good elected officials doing the right thing. But does anyone really wonder why Keith Matune, teacher and state pension beneficiary, doesn’t like the pension reform bill? Does anyone question why he says he would have voted against pension reform? Its because he’s got a personal interest in making sure state pensions are as great as possible – and for all the whining from the likes of puppet-head Dan Proft and his ilk, the recent bill in Illinois saves $150B (that’s billion, with a B). Savings this taxpayer is glad to have. No-one knows what the final reform will look like, but most (all-?) agree the current structure is unsustainable. Id rather have Ron Sandack representing my interests in Springfield. Thank you Grant. Thank you Ron. Doing the right thing, telling the truth and putting your personal interests second is often not easy. Well done. dailyherald/article/20140129/news/701299919/
