Election Results Two of the Congress bastions have been overrun - TopicsExpress

Election Results Two of the Congress bastions have been overrun with expected results. While Haryana has given a clear majority to BJP, in Maharashtra though it is leading by a big margin, it still has to put up with recently divorced maverick Shiv Sena Party. The voters have banished NCP and Congress as well as the incorrigible Raj led Maharashtra Navanirman Sena. In the wake of likely investigations on their several scandals, the wily Pawar could even pull a fast one by edging out Sena and offering support for BJP with no preconditions. BJP, in their effort to avoid a Delhi drama will have to partner with either of the one party, though both now are unpalatable. The elections could be seen as a clear victory of Modi, as well as the continuous slide of the pseudo Gandhis. Congress is expected to now openly challenge Sonia and the likes of Digvijay Singh, Tharoor could become more vociferous in their praise of Modi. Congress is merely paying a price for their disconnection with people, arrogance and corporatized corruption, particularly in the UPA’s second term. Thrusting of Rahul, a non-performer as a PM aspirant accelerated the fall, which shielded by the myopic mother will never understand. Despite her recent huge electoral victory, the Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha, convicted in the disproportionate assets case is now on the defensive and not in a position to attack Modi. A shrewd leader, she would extend support and may even join the Government at the centre. Strength at Rajya Sabha will get fortified with such an alliance from the southern state, as BJP gets an additional 9 seats and moves on as a PAN India party. Coming to West Bengal, the current electoral resultts do not augur well for TMC, which has, like the successive Left Front governments have scalded PM Modi and succeeded in alienating themselves and the state. The Federal front touted by Mamata ji remains a distant, unrealizable dream, despite her sycophant advisors whispers in her ears to the contrary. If PM Modi, in the next few months, succeeds in giving an extended comfort factor to the minorities in the country, TMC is bound to see a dilution of support of a large number of minorities, who too stand to be despised, suspected as having a soft corner for the terrorists, a miniscule minority among the minorities. The Hindu majority, particularly the urban and the semi-urban were largely shunned by both the Left and the TMC, have now become vocal and there is an increasing tendency to vote en block, for or against any party. One another thing that is happening silently. Voters have started disregarding regional parties, which is a welcome move. Whether Modi will be able to deliver, what he had promised before elections will be a clinching factor for the ensuing polls in W. Bengal and Tamil Nadu in 2016 and in UP in the following year. Success in these states will crown Modi ji and BJP as unrivalled for at least another term, if not for more. Sampath Kumar
