Elections are choices- our community voted for change but our neighbors in Van Buren County elected to maintain the status quo. As I crisscrossed the highways and byways picking up my signs over the past 36 hours, I reflected on the generous spirit of the many volunteers, supporters and voters who put up signs, worked polling places, or simply gave a thumbs up on their way to vote. All too often, we take things for granted but I feel a very real connection to the people who engaged in this campaign. For every vote and other form of support, I will always be grateful. There is a life lesson even in loss-- for this campaign, my personal lesson is that fighting the fight is a worthy undertaking- whatever the outcome. Thank you, thank you, thank you. tim pirtle
