Electric Blue Lightning is very beautiful and also very dangerous, it travels at a 100 kilometres per second. The air around a lightning bolt is hotter than the surface of the sun and people are killed and injured every year from strikes. Precautions can be taken to reduce the risks. You should not stand in the middle of an open field as lightning will hit the tallest object. Standing under a tree offers little protection as they are poor conductors. If youre caught in a thunderstorm and have no cover, lay on the ground, or crouch with your arms around your knees to minimize contact with the ground.
