Eli was a man of God. He was Gods set man. But Eli had a problem. - TopicsExpress

Eli was a man of God. He was Gods set man. But Eli had a problem. In fact, he had several problems. For one, his sons were prostituting women at the doors of the Temple. They disdained the holy things of the Lord and they made mockery of the laws of the Lord. Eli was not much better himself. He knew what his sons were doing and chose not to chastise them. He allowed it and in his allowance of it, he was in actuality condoning and co-signing their gross misconduct. God had a remedy; He always does. He raised up the priest/prophet Samuel and used a child to rebuke Eli for his complacency, spiritual lethargy, and parental misguidance. When Samuel released the word of judgment, Eli was not not surprised because he knew what he and his sons were doing was wrong and he knew just as well that at some point, because their behavior was left unattended and practically ignored that God would eventually step in and put an end to the mayhem once and for all. God is love, but God hates stupidity. He hates disrespect and He is insulted by parents, especially those in leadership positions who allow their children to act like little demon seeds in the church. You have a choice. You can so love your child and let them run amok in the House of God or you can sit their hind parts down and discipline them. When you choose not to discipline your child, you give God license to. And when the Lord chastises, He wont spare for their crying. You wont be able to stop it. You wont be able to interfere and you wont be able to move them out of the way. You say you love your child, train them to honor their God. Once you do that and they still wander astray, the battle then is not yours to fight. The Lord, Himself will step in and deal with the matter. He will make certain that they will never repeat their folly again. But if you over love your child and are so captivated by their looks, charm, and gifts, you are setting them up for great destruction. Not only did the Lord kill Elis sons, but the Lord broke his heart and then broke Elis neck. I think it serves us best to read ALL OF GODS WORD and not just the portions of scripture that we like to use to pacify our nonsense. Eat the whole scroll and understand the will of the Lord. God does not deal lightly with rebellion. He moved an entire generation off the earth because of rebellion. And God help you if you aid a person in their wickedness and stand in between God and a person He is trying to correct. What a crossfire for you to involve yourself in...
