Elizabeth Joice and her husband Max were ecstatic when they found out she was pregnant. This was especially surprising because they were told she was infertile due to the chemotherapy she underwent to beat sarcoma in 2010. A month into the pregnancy, her cancer returns. She was given two choices - terminate the baby to get an MRI or continue with the pregnancy without knowing her cancer status. She chose to keep her baby. Six weeks before the due date she had a cesarean because they found tumors in her lungs. Elizabeth gave birth to a beautiful baby named Lily. After delivery, doctors found cancer in Elizabeth’s heart, abdomen and pelvis. She died two months after giving birth at the age of 36.
