Elizabeth Tudor declares herself QUEEN of SCOTLAND in 1560 in the TREATY of BERWiCK, and months later again in the Treaty of Edinburgh that embeds the Treaty of Berwick The treaties occurred between Queen Elizabeth/ QE1, her agents Duke of Norfolk and Wm Cecil and with the Scots Traitors known as the lords of confederation. QE1s invasion of Scotland preceded the Treaty. The English invasion began in December 1559 and the Berwick Treaty in March 1560. If Marie Queen of Scots, ratified the original 1560 Edinburgh Treaty she would have agreed that QE1 was Queen of Scotland, instead she pursued a succession version of the revised treaty - succession means AFTER not during the reign of another. Darnley was assassinated Feb 9 the day after MQS signed and sent the last version of the Treaty to QE1 on Feb 8 of 1567.
