Elka is a protector. She is loyal and loving to her family. Elka was homeless last spring and spent her days wandering around Elkwood Lake Resort looking for someone to take care of her. The security guards often fed Elka and did what they could for her. Elka was very lonely and found a stray male dog companion. They spent their days searching for food and their nights huddled together for safety and warmth. When Elka became pregnant the security guards took her and her male friend to a shelter. That very day Elka was sent off to her foster home to have her puppies in a safe place. Her male friend got neutered and joined her a few days later. Foster mom and dad pulled thirty ticks off of Elka. Elka was undernourished and bone tired. With love and lots of food, Elka gained weight and strength. She eventually went into labor and delivered twelve puppies in three hours. What a super mom! And she successfully nursed and cared for all twelve. Elkas pups and her male friend all went to wonderful forever homes. Elka is still waiting for hers. Elka would love to have her very own family. Elka is protective of her home and her people, she is a one dog burglar deflector. Elka can get excited in a large group of dogs and play rough. She would love to have a big submissive dog playmate. Elka is very interested in cats so foster mom recommends no cats in the house. Elka enjoys walks and does very well on a leash. She is loyal and loving to her family and wants to hang out with them and get belly rubs. Elka is crate trained, she enjoys chewing on rawhides in her crate. Elka doesnt let her tough beginning get in the way of enjoying her life. Do you have room for a deserving mama dog? She will love you forever.
