Elliott and I were delighted to be with the Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club this weekend at their 37th Apple Festival. So were over a hundred thousand other people! This huge festival started Friday evening with the Apple Jam, featuring local musicians, and the Halls Mills-McGrady Ruritan Clubs food booth where we enjoyed hot dogs, fried apple pies, and coffee. By 9 AM Friday morning Main Street in North Wilksboro and several side streets had been transformed into a colorful bazaar of craft and food vendors, performance stages, and even an animal exhibit with a camel and tiny kangaroo. I wish I had remembered my camera!
