Elsewhere, in various comments in re the matter of that now-standing army we call the police, and the state in general: I urgently suggest more Henry David Thoreau, Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King. I think there is yet something of an American conscience remaining to which a proper moral argument can be made. It must be completely logically integrated, however, through four hierarchical branches of philosophy -- metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and politics -- and peacefully put with righteous courage. Time is running out. That conscience is being deliberately cultured out of society faster all the time. ...but I also wrote: I have been pointing it out for years: these *animals* are now incapable -- by way of doctrine and training -- of reasoning to a moral conclusion on their own powers. This is exactly the same mentality that once herded other human beings into cattle cars at rifle-point without ever hearing the sound of its own conscience. Thats where we are, now. ~~~~~ These two statements are not necessarily contradictory. The American conscience referent in the first quote is really not much more than the daily common-sense apprehension of the basic moral wrong of things that we see them doing to people around us. The cops themselves are not that big a problem: they could be starved out of existence. The really serious problem is in convincing people to do that. It has to be done, or all will be lost. Our descendents will skid along their lives in some half-tone greyscale echo of whatever they are allowed to remember about us and the great people before us who built all this. Far too soon, no one will really know, at all, what got lost. With the power to which these people aspire, they can destroy anything. Dont you doubt it. It really could be a thousand years before anything like America ever lights the world again. The pace of this thing is picking up, and time is running out.
