Elton John Gearing Up for Annual Charity Oscar Viewing Party on Sunday Fri 02/28/14 Elton John is gearing up for his annual annual Oscar viewing party, which benefits his AIDS Foundation. The event will be held this Sunday, March 2 -- Oscar night -- at West Hollywood Park in Los Angeles. As always, Elton and his partner, David Furnish, will host the bash, which will feature dinner, a live auction and a special musical performance from Ed Sheeran. Chef Gordon Ramsay has designed the menu for the evenings dinner, which guests will enjoy while watching 86th Annual Academy Awards on ABC. According to LA, the 1,000 guests at the bash will feast on prime New York steak, citrus-poached sea bass, and portobello mushroom with asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes, as well as six different hors doeuvres, plus tuna or tomato confit tartare, corn soup with fritters and chipotle creme fraiche, salads with mustard vinaigrette, assorted fresh fruits, and Meyer lemon cake for dessert. The co-chairs for Eltons event this year include Katy Perry, Steven Tyler, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Neil Patrick Harris, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Heidi Klum, Jared Leto, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, Sharon Stone and many other big stars, all of whom are expected to show up on the night in question. Tyler even auctioned off a chance to join him at his table at the party, and as part of the nights silent auction, hell offer a seven-day stay at his place in Hawaii. Ed Sheerans role as the entertainment at the party isnt surprising, considering hes managed by Eltons company, Rocket Music. The two men also duetted at the Grammy Awards in 2013. Describing the best piece of advice that Eltons given him, Ed told ABC News Radio that it was to trust [your record] label, as long as youre in a position where you control the artistic element. He also said that Elton told him to trust that everyone on his team knows what theyre doing, and if theyre telling you to do something, you should do it. He just said, Do everything they throw at you, and get them to set the pins up, and you knock them down, basically, Ed added. The strategy seems to have worked, since Ed has now received a number of Grammy nominations, toured the world, is Taylor Swifts BFF, and is included in many high-profile events, such as the Beatles anniversary special earlier this month. Over the past 22 years, Eltons Oscar party has raised nearly $40 million for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. By the way, Eltons frenemy Madonna is also throwing an Oscar party, sponsored by Gucci.
