Elvis wanted to be a part in a Gospel Quartet not a rock solo - TopicsExpress

Elvis wanted to be a part in a Gospel Quartet not a rock solo artist but that wasnt Gods plan. Elvis may have had record breaking secular hits and continues to create new accomplishments over 30 years after his death but his Grammys came from his Gospel Music. Elvis was raised in perhaps one of the smaller denominations of his time but yet he continued to read and learn as much as he could about the way many others also believed and worshiped God in case maybe they had found or understood something that he felt rang true but was different from how he was raised to believe. Some of his big parties were often spent with him reading scriptures or spiritual books to any who would listen - mostly the girls but he didnt waste the time he had. At least once when some well meaning fans held signs or yelled Youre The King - he stopped the concert to tell them that there was only one King and that was Jesus. He chose his back up singers from the Gospel World - often well known Gospel Quartets he had admired for years. He gave them time to sing Gospel or Christian music in his concert and before --there is a clip where he stops tells the crowd to be quiet and listen and stands with a very emotional face worshiping as they sang Sweet Sweet Spirit. So it is no surprise to me that Elvis would choose this song to record - seldom heard and little known but this song is the whole story of the Bible and the Gospel in just a few words --just wished more knew it and understood it.
