Elyse Burns Nix We have 1987 members to this alumni...Everyone is busy and a lot of peoples incomes are decreasing. What would the PCW board think about having a $10. or more yearly fee, every Jan? The checks could be ear marked for what organization they wanted their money to go for. Seems like when West needs money, it is immediately. If we all gave $10,00 we would have $19870,00 for the year for the things that come up for the spring sports and weekend needs for the students. This would be a rather large task for Ric, the treasurer, but I would be glad to help and keep excellent records...We could also invite more people to join....Just a thought. We can all give up a meal or Starbucks for this and it would do so much.. Thank you for listening to my idea...The board could recruit members. Each person could bring on 5 others...Also, the class with the most money could have a pool party in the summer...That school gave us so much and these kids now more than ever need our help. Regards, Elyse — feeling hopeful. Unlike · · February 9 at 10:56pm near Edmond, OK You and 4 others like this. Denise Tompkins Benoit I think it sounds like a great idea. Count me in. February 10 at 2:43am · Edited · Unlike · 2 Jeff Lawson Where do we send it... February 10 at 6:32am · Like · 1 Elyse Burns Nix The checks could go to the Friends of PCW. This would need to be approved by them, for accounting purposes and records. This is just a suggestion. Thought I would see what kind of feed back we got. I am sure the Board would have to put it up for vote. February 10 at 8:10am · Unlike · 2 Ramona Garmon Foshee IF everyone did this and almost 20k being donated to our school. I would want to know what funds there are and where the funds are being distributed. every 6 months. Ive heard in the past that some people in charge are not so willing to give up this information! February 10 at 8:19am · Unlike · 4 Elyse Burns Nix Ramona, if you go to the post Sept 11, 2013 Ric Hedges, the Treasurer has given a list of money spent and what the projected needs are....if the checks are earmarked, Ric and the Board will make sure the money goes towards that cause..Most people if there is a cause close to their heart, will give more.. The foundation is trying to get someone on the Board from each class, but people are busy..I thought this would be a great jump start to their April fund raiser...Again, it would have to be approved by the Foundation.... February 10 at 8:53am · Edited · Unlike · 2 Linda D. Grennan There is an April 5 fundraiser. We know many alumni are out of state. Some are sending donations for silent auction and others sending donations as they cant be here for the event. Donations can be made anytime. I am on the committee for this event and think this is a great idea. It is also a 501c3 and Ive always had my questions answered. We need more people on committee if you would like to help, feel free to message me. If people want to give to this idea and raise funds as she said and give it to the foundation whats the problem? From what I read this is an additional idea to raise funds for the foundation not separate thing. I think its brilliant!!! A lot of west grads love out of state they wont be coming to a fundraiser but its super easy to send a 10 dollar check to help out February 10 at 2:21pm · Like · 3 Elyse Burns Nix Rona this is all pro foundation. It could be a good jump start for the fundraiser. It is not for me or anyone else but the students. If the money is rolling in, let me know, people would love to know that . It is just an idea Rona, you are trying to make it a contest . Its not. My heart is for those students. February 10 at 2:27pm · Unlike · 2 Jeff Lawson WOW if people who are foundation people are like this..then maybe the FOUNDATION needs to be looked at. So sad that they think so highly of themselves they are not willing to accept any ideas. Rona Spaulding you are such a bad spokesperson for the foundation. SOrry I WILL HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT NOW. February 10 at 2:33pm · Like · 1 Sherri Wallace McDermott i think elyses idea is brilliant/easy for those of us who live out of state and to the point. please put it in action and post both here & on individual fb pages so it gets covered:) February 10 at 10:30pm · Unlike · 3 Teri Murphy I am one of the out of staters and I think this is a great idea! Maybe the powers that be could set up some sort of link to a fundraising page and have the link set on the Facebook page. Then we could make donations with an easy click or two. And also have the info available for those who prefer to mail a check. 😊 February 10 at 10:35pm · Unlike · 2 Elyse Burns Nix Danny Selhph God bless you. You are a true patriot.. February 10 at 11:43pm · Unlike · 1 Dana Green Wilson I like the idea. Seems like we take advantage of an annual opportunity for alumni giving for the colleges we went to that are a lot more than ten bucks. There may be a Class of 86 representative already, but if not, Im available. Im in Edmond now. February 11 at 12:05am · Unlike · 5 Chris Kidd Excellent idea. Makes sense to try it like that to establish a baseline of funds. Of course anyone could contribute more, but this is a nice start. February 11 at 8:12am · Unlike · 5 Teresa Renee Peard Wall-Baker I think the Eylses idea for a $10.00 jump start at the beginning of the year is a wonderful idea!! Where do I send the check?
