Em Standing was inspired to write this poem while her grandfather was in hospital, when she overheard an overtired and stressed nurse be less than patient with him. Em herself is dyslexic, which makes her endeavours all the more commendable :-) Dear nurse, I know I test the patience of the saint which you are not, But my confusion and my strangeness comes from a life that Ive forgot The reality of my life is but a mystery, a scary unknown place, But my daftness and my humour put a warm smile on my familys face. Please, dear nurse, be patient Please dont tut or ignore, for any second now, dear nurse, I could leave this earth for evermore.
