Field Test Technician Description We are seeking a dynamic, results driven and inventive multi-disciplinary field test technician to support a field test program as part of an energy appliance product development program. Strong electro-mechanical background required; must have prior experience with installation and service of HVAC systems or automotive engines and transmissions installations, trouble-shooting and repair, preferably both Job responsibilities include Setting up and testing of data acquisition equipment at each site. Ensure proper integration with on-site home security systems and / or utility load management signals when applicable Providing on site assistance to installing contractor during appliance installation Performing final verification, testing and commissioning of equipment Performing regular scheduled field inspections of operating equipment Performing emergency service work as required Assisting in product documentation development from an installation / service standpoint Developing field service guidelines pertaining to equipment installation, integration into existing systems, trouble shooting, service and maintenance Supporting program management to drive design goals within the entire project team; design goals may include product cost, size, weight, durability, manufacturability, ease of installation and trouble shooting, serviceability among others Requirements AS in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering Technology or Automotive Services with at least 8 years work experience in installing and servicing HVAC equipment or automotive repair services Hands-on experience in multi-disciplinary HVAC environments including gas boilers, furnaces, AC systems, control systems: both installation, service and trouble shooting, or: Hands-on experience in all types of automotive service work, including rebuilding engines and transmissions, electrical systems trouble shooting and repair Demonstrated experience with product testing, experimental methods, familiar with use of various types of test and measuring equipment Willingness to travel.
