If the election is pushed back to October by our recycled PM—will the September quarter figure inspire the populace?? Not by your plodding pace so far! I hope one of the new Ministers/parliamentary secretary will be given the job of keeping your nose to the grindstone, keeping you busy finding new ways to speed up the rollout and also being proactive in heading off problems, something you haven’t been good at, e.g. the Syntheo debacle! To get more numbers rolled out it makes sense to concentrate resources where the numbers are—the capital cities and their suburbs and the bigger country towns, not in tiny, sparsely populated rural/Hills hamlets! The rates you pay are very low, leading to dissatisfaction among your contractors and their subcontractors. I have long suggested you counteract this by offering weekend and/or nightwork at very attractive rates. This will lift morale and see more time spent rolling out the NBN so increasing the rollout directly and indirectly. Or offer bonuses for exceeding targets by 20% say—making sure quality doesn’t suffer. Surely the incandescent intellects at NBN Co can come up with some ideas? Please advise!
