Embassy Zagreb highlighted Jazz Appreciation Month with a workshop series for children called “Jazz with US” hosted by Croatian jazz singer Lela Kaplowitz. On April 4th, American Corner Zadar hosted 30 elementary children to talk about and play jazz. Mrs. Kaplowitz explained the origins of jazz and its emergence throughout America and the world. Children followed the evolution of jazz on interactive maps, while also learning about U.S. geography. Mrs. Kaplowitz taught fundamental jazz rhythm and showed the kids examples of improvisation and jazz dance.
