Emerging Stocks Rise as Kospi Rallies While Chinese Shares Drop By Ian Sayson Aug 13, 2014 Emerging-market stocks rose for a third day as speculation that South Korea will cut interest rates OFFSET a surprise plunge in a Chinese credit gauge. India’s rupee weakened after inflation topped estimates. The Kospi index advanced 1 percent as Amorepacific Corp. rallied to a RECORD. PTT Pcl led a 1.3 percent gain in Thailand’s SET Index. (SET) The Shanghai Composite Index (SHCOMP) fell the most in a week. Tencent Holdings Ltd. (700) sank 1.4 percent in Hong Kong before earnings today. The rupee, South Korea’s won and Russia’s ruble slid 0.3 percent versus the dollar. While India and China are showing signs of slowing, other parts of EMERGING MARKETS are showing positive growth prospects,” said Jonathan Ravelas, chief market strategist at Manila-based BDO Unibank Inc. “Globally, FINANCIAL markets remain very liquid and that’s keeping things buoyant.”
