Employment Opportunity Massachusetts Division The following Employment opportunity is available: Kids Feast Coordinator Waltham Corps 1. Position Title Kids FEAST Coordinator Non-Exempt 2. Responsible to Corps Commanding Officers 3. Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a field related to education 4. Work Experience · Must have two to three years of progressive leadership experience in education · Classroom teaching experience is preferred 5. Other Qualifications · Must have at least three years’ experience in developing, planning, and managing education programs. · Must have or be able to acquire within the first 30 days of employment a First Aid or CPR certification. · Must be available to work 2:00p.m. – 7:00p.m from Tuesday to Friday. · Must have valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a 12 passenger van. · Have ability to supervise volunteers consisting of individuals with varying experience, competency and cultural background. · Have excellent computer skills and competency with software such as Microsoft Office Applications and or appropriate desktop applications and hardware such as computers, printers, and projectors. · Must have the ability to work and relate well with people. · Must be able to read, write and communicate in English, bilingual (Spanish) preferred. · Musical ability and teaching skills will be considered. · Have a philosophy of education and child development, which is consistent with that of The Salvation Army. 6. Principal Functions Create program goals and develop daily activity plans to achieve those goals. Will be responsible for the management of the volunteers; supervision of the children and provide tutoring and homework assistance. 7. Duties and Responsibilities a) Schedule, direct, and guide all public, private and in-house activities pertaining to the Kids FEAST program. b) Coordinate the schedules of all program space including the classrooms, computer lab, and library during the hours of Kids FEAST operation. c) Coordinate program schedule with center Corps Officers. d) Develop and maintain program application Packet. Track and file appropriate application material for each participant. Generate permission slip for trips and activities as needed. e) Work in a cooperative manner with staff and Administrators. f) Attend all scheduled staff meeting and management team meetings as required. g) Work with volunteers to service programs that enhance the experience of program participants. h) Supervise and oversee the day to day operations of the Kids FEAST Corps program. i) Represent The Salvation Army, Waltham Kids FEAST program at pertinent meeting within the community for the purpose of improving the program, recruiting and the general promotion of activities. j) Ensure an adequate reserve of program supplies, snacks and dinner; conduct regular inventory of all equipment and supplies. k) Prepare and serve snacks, dinner, and/or arrange pick up of donated meal from restaurants. l) Ensure clear channel of communication with volunteer staff and program participants. This will include the writing of memos, schedules, flyers, as it pertains to The Kids FEAST program. m) Provide regular reporting verbally and written to Corps Officer(s) and present brief report on daily activities. Also prepare incident report if necessary. n) Provide program’s statistics as required by the Corps Officer. o) Be familiar with The Salvation Army Troops program to help Corps Ministries Coordinator. p) Must be able to manage physical activities with children – coordinate games and supervising structured play. Outdoor and indoor. q) Perform other duties as assigned and more appropriately defined in the operations manual. r) To represent The Salvation Army’s spiritual and social mission. s) Recognize spiritual need of persons which may require referral to the Corps Officers t) Work with colleges to staff volunteer positions for the program. u) Provide coaching and direction to the volunteers. v) Ensure participants safety – immediately rectify and or report any potentially unsafe conditions. w) Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and procedures. x) Perform other related duties within the scope of the position Miscellaneous: Flexibility and a cooperative spirit are crucial characteristics of the individual who holds this important position.
