Employment Opportunity: Position Announcement:Academic Teachers (8) The G.R.E.A.T (Gaining Results thru Enrichment Activities & Training) Program is a 21st Century Community Learning Center program located at Glassmanor Elementary School in Oxon Hill, MD. We are seeking individuals to fill 8 PT Academic Instructor Positions for its afterschool program. Desired Qualifications: Preference will be given to: certified Teachers – DC, MD or VA; persons with K-6 experience; and persons familiar with the Glassmanor Community (Oxon Hill, MD). Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Site Coordinator/Project Director, Teachers will: • Implement the academic curriculum, Renaissance Learning (Teachers will either teach the Math or Reading curriculum to grade respective groups - 2 different groups/day); • work 1.5 hours per day (3-4:30PM), 4 days per week (M-Th) during the school year; • be expected to teach a review of basic Reading, Writing, and Math aligned to Common Core Standards and the academic objectives of the program; • manage all classroom activities appropriately (teacher to student ratio of 1:20); and • participate in curriculum training (paid) prior to the start of the program. Anticipated Official Start Date:September 29, 2014 Rate of Pay:$25-30/hr depending on qualifications and experience. All certified teachers will receive $30/hr. Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Site Coordinator/Project Director, Character Education Teachers will: • Implement a character education curriculum to 2 different grade respective groups/day; • work 2 hours per day (4:15-6:15PM), 4 days per week (M-Th) during the school year; • manage all classroom activities appropriately (teacher to student ratio of 1:20); and • use curriculum to develop interactive and meaningful classroom/instructional activities. Anticipated Official Start Date:September 29, 2014 Rate of Pay:$16-20/hr depending on qualifications and experience.
