Empty bay. Poling a skiff for an hour down a grass flat. Redfish - TopicsExpress

Empty bay. Poling a skiff for an hour down a grass flat. Redfish seem to be everywhere. Out of the blue a J16 comes motoring in, 20 yards in front of us. Motors in all of the way to shore. He gets out and starts mullet fishing. I ask if maybe the sun glare caused him to not see us. He proceeds to tell us that he has fished this bay all of his life and that we dont own it. We are fishing wrong and have no clue anyways. He tells us all manner of childish mess. I tell him that I am just asking for the same level of respect that he would of demanded from me. He throws his net and pulls out the fish, snaps their necks and throws them back in the water. He gets back in the boat and blazes out to immediately run aground in the bay, that he has fished all of his life. These guys were in their late 60s to early 70s. It is amazing and sad that these kind of folks have apparently for years been the ones setting the bad examples for years. Golden Rule folks. If you messed up and did something wrong, apologize and move on.
