Engineer III - Electrical Substation Conceptual Engineering- 14991BR Summary Location: Richmond, Virginia This is a senior engineering position responsible for transmission and distribution substation project analysis. We are seeking a qualified candidate to work in the Substation Engineering department in the area of conceptual project development, scoping and estimating. You will work within a team environment to develop and define the requirements for capital improvements for new and existing substations ranging in voltages up to 500kV. Core Responsibilities Work as part of conceptual teams to develop overall requirements for capital projects varying in size from several thousand to over $100 million. Develop preliminary CAD drawings including one lines, general arrangements and elevations as required to turn over to detailed design teams. Develop detailed cost estimates. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently seeking knowledge and information. Ability to independently plan and organize work assignments. CAD experience, preferably Microstation. Basic Qualifications B.S Electrical Engineering Degree Six years experience in the electric utility industry with three years directly related to substation design For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, one of the following criteria must be met: 1) Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based upon the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 2) Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country’s own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country’s accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or 3) Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 4) Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 5) Holds or has previously held a valid Professional Engineer license.
